Abstract
Background:
Many individuals with life-threatening cancer experience a need for palliative and oncology nursing during their final stages of life. Living with a life-threatening cancer means to experience suffering from symptoms and the changing life-situation. Many articles have explored how individuals with life-threatening diseases experience different aspects of their life, but there is a need for a synthesis and review of these. A synthesis and review is needed so that registered nurses may understand what is important to these individuals to be able to make their last stages of life as good as possible.
Aim:
The aim of this study is to describe the experiences of living your life as it is being told by people with life-threatening cancer.
Method:
Systematic literature review that included 12 scientific articles. The articles were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.
Results:
Five categories were identified; Living with death on the horizon, The fight against the disease, Feeling of worthlessness and worth fullness, Keeping normality and To die and live on.
Discussion och conclusion:
Palliative care and end of life care needs to be good and effective to fulfill the needs of people living with life-threatening cancer. Living with a life-threatening cancer means that your whole life world is affected in different ways. It means that you need to navigate in life and at the same time cope with death peeping at the horizon. More research is needed to establish which nursing interventions are most effective for individuals with life-threatening cancer.

Bakgrund:
En stor del av de som dör i cancersjukdomar har behov av både palliativ och onkologisk omvårdnad. Att leva med en livshotande cancersjukdom är ofta förknippat med upplevelser av svåra symtom och en mycket påfrestande situation. Flera studier har undersökt hur personer med livshotande cancersjukdom upplever olika aspekter i sina liv, men det saknas en sammanställning av dessa. En sammanställning och granskning av existerande studier behövs för att personer med livhotande cancersjukdom ska kunna få rätt omvårdnad så att deras sista tid i livet blir så bra som möjligt.
Syfte:
Syftet är att beskriva upplevelsen av att leva sitt liv såsom det berättas av personer som har en livshotande cancersjukdom.
Metod:
Systematisk litteraturstudie som inkluderar 12 vetenskapliga artiklar. Artiklarna analyserades med en innehållsanalys.
Resultat :
Dataanalysen resulterade i fem kategorier som är: Leva med döden i horisonten, Kampen mot sjukdomen, Känna värdelöshet och värdefullhet, Bibehålla normalitet samt Att dö och att leva vidare.
Diskussion och slutsats:
Att den palliativa vården och vården i livets slutskede är god och effektiv är viktigt för både samhället och de enskilda personerna. Att leva sitt liv när man har en livshotande cancersjukdom innebär att hela ens livsvärld påverkas och att man måste navigera i livet och samtidigt förhålla sig till döden som skymtar borta vid horisonten. Fortsatt forskning kring vilka omvårdnadsåtgärder som har bäst effekt för personer med livshotande cancersjukdomar behövs.
